Andre Granillo was having a fantastic season as UC Riverside’s closer (2 wins & 3 saves in 10 games), when the COVID-19 pandemic shut down the Big West Baseball season. The sophomore out of Hemet’s West Valley HS, sat down to provide his insights on this season, that saw the Highlanders playing some good baseball. Andre also touches on what the future holds for his team, and his relationship with Head Coach Troy Percival, who was a pretty decent closer himself, during his big league career, particularly with the Angels, from 1996 to 2004.
While the premature ending of 2020 was disappointing for Andre, expect to see him on numerous prospect lists for his Junior year at UC Riverside in 2021. The big righty is ready to get back out on the mound, and shut the lights, every chance he gets. Check the links below, to access the audio from the podcast.
